Community Service

Want to make a difference in your community? Need service credit for class, a leadership certificate, or scholarship requirements? Would you like more work experience for your resume?

A TimeBank through Reed Executive Study suggests that employers prefer job candidates who volunteer. The Office of Student Affairs strives to provide on- and off-campus programming that engages you in a variety of community outreach opportunities, both serving the university as well as serving nonprofit organizations in the greater Columbus area.

IUPUC students, faculty, and staff are encouraged to get involved by volunteering at special events like Community EdFest, Ethnic Expo, the Special Olympics, Above the Influence Day, and more.

Students can gain valuable professional experience, both in short- and long-term volunteer positions, such as:

  • Graphic design
  • Social service outreach
  • Literacy tutoring
  • Nonprofit office administration

Students and groups of students are also encouraged to participate in projects, like:

  • Adopt-a-Road
  • Office painting
  • Assemble fundraising mailers
  • Packing gifts for holiday charities
