Your academic progress will be measured according to a standard system which uses a combination of letter grades and numeric points.
These grades and grade points, listed from highest to lowest, are given when you complete your courses each semester.
If you fail a course, you earn zero grade points. Depending on the reason for the failure, it will be noted in in our records as indicated below. Regardless of the reason, the failure will be noted on your transcript as a simple F.
|Failing Grade & Reasons
||Failed to pass exams and/or complete assignments.
||Student attended at least once but did not return often enough to progress.
Instructor notes last date of attendance.
||Student never attended the class.
Grades Not Used to Calculate GPA
In some cases, nonstandard grades could be awarded. They will not factor into your grade point average or GPA.
|Grade & Description or Purpose
||Deferred grade (for courses that may not be completed in one semester)
||Course taken on an audit basis for no credit
||Grade not yet reported by the instructor
||Deferred grade for a special program not yet completed, such as a study abroad course
||Withdrew after the first week of classes
If you are not satisfied with a grade, you have two options:
- Take the course over again and request a grade replacement.
- Petition for a grade change if you believe that there has been an error in calculating or reporting your grade.
