Credit Hour Limits

When you are admitted to IUPUC, you may enroll for up to 18 credit hours during the fall and spring semesters and up to seven (7) credit hours in a single summer session or a total of 14 credit hours (maximum) if enrolled in both summer sessions.

In some cases, you might be subject to fewer credit hours. This is generally the case if you are on academic probation or have been reinstated. Consult with your academic advisor if you have questions.

If you wish to enroll in a higher number of credit hours, you need written permission specifying the adjusted maximum from the division. You then provide this document to the Office of Registrar Services.

If you have questions about the maximum number of credits you can take—or how many classes are right for you based on your work, family, and other responsibilities—talk with your academic advisor. Your advisor can help you put together a plan of study that’s right for you, whether you take classes on a part-time or full-time basis.
