I have worked in the field of pediatric nursing for more than 30 years. My specific population of interest is children with disabilities and their families, a group that captured my heart very early in my career. I have worked as a floor nurse, home care nurse, long term care nurse, pediatric intensive care nurse, nurse educator, pediatric clinical nurse specialist, and finally as an assistant professor. I have long wanted to give the families of children with disabilities a voice. This was the impetus for me going back for my doctoral degree and my work in research with families of children who use a speech generating device.
