Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education K-6
Degree Requirements
Students seeking the Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education must complete 66 general
education credit hours in addition to 61 professional program hours. The general education
coursework builds foundational skills (see Principles of Teacher Education in Program Catalogue)
for the professional coursework taken in the junior and senior years.

Teacher Education Program: Professional Education Courses
Applying to the Teacher Education Program
These standards must be met before the student may enroll in
advanced professional education courses.
1. Attain a minimum overall GPA of 2.50.
2. Complete and receive a "C" or higher in specified classes (see 2004 Bulletin).
3.a. At the time of application, the following courses need to be
completed or in progress: ENG W131, ENG W132, EDUC
W201, EDUC E449, COMM R110, EDUC Q200, MATH Sequence,
MUSIC E241, HPER P290, BIOL N100 or N108, Diversity Elective,
Quantitative Reasoning Elective, GEOG G110, and EDUC F200.
b. Pass PRAXIS I (PPST). Take the test by November 15 for
February application and July 15 for September application.
Application deadlines: To begin Fall: Feb. 7.
To begin Spring: Oct. 10.
c. Complete formal application to the Teacher Education Program,
available on the World Wide Web at //education.

Degree Requirements
Basic Requirements: This program of study must be completed concurrently with the K-6 teacher preparation program.
- Applicant must have passed at least two semesters of college-level spoken foreign language to apply to the program
- Student must apply and be accepted to the teacher education and ENL programs in order to obtain certification.
- Students must have a minimum G.P.A. of 3.0.

- Student must apply and be accepted to the teacher education and Special Education programs in order to obtain certification.
- Students must have a minimum G.P.A. of 2.5.
