Management
Society recognizes the importance of understanding both management itself and the complex nature
of the organizationsin business, government, not-for-profits, hospitals, and universitiesin which managers
operate. The faculty is concerned with improving this understanding through the study of
individual and group behavior, organizational theory, and human resource development.
The undergraduate courses offered in this major are concerned not only with the broad aspects of
management and organization, but also with developing skills for dealing with problems of
motivation, organization design, and the increasingly complex problems of human resource
allocations in our interdependent society.
Special Opportunities
Undergraduates have the opportunity to receive awards, recognition, and scholarships. Internships and independent
studies are also available to all students.
Careers
This general management concentration provides flexibility for students who choose to understand
management itself and the complex nature of organizations, both for-profit and non-profit. It
accommodates students whose interests include preparation for corporate training positions,
application of behavioral science to management, human resources functions in both line and
staff capacities, and owning or managing small business.
