Nursing
The demand for nursing professionals is skyrocketing, and for nurses with the right qualifications,
the potential is unlimited. Employment for nurses is expected to grow faster than average for
all occupations through 2010 (U.S. Depart. of Labor). To help meet this demand, Indiana
University School of Nursing and IUPUC have partnered to provide local access to nursing education
in south central Indiana. IUPUC is known for its small class size, flexible scheduling, and
innovative use of online and in-class instructional methods.
Careers
A world of opportunity awaits the registered nurse as he/she "climbs the nursing ladder".
With each educational rung, professional practice becomes increasingly more independent and
interdependent. Jobs such as unit managers, charge nurses, case managers, home health nursing,
public health nurses, military opportunities, and many others become within the realm of
possibility. RNs care for patients in their homes, clinics, hospices, and rehabilitation centers,
as well as in hospital settings, including emergency, critical care, operating, surgical,
maternity and other medical units. Additionally, positions for RNs are available in schools, the
military, government agencies, healthcare corporations, and other businesses.
