General Information
INDIANA UNIVERSITY SCHOOL OF NURSING OFFERS THE FOLLOWING PROGRAMS AT IUPUC.
The LPN to ASN Mobility Option provides Licensed Practical Nurses with
the education required to become licensed as Registered Nurses. Registered Nurses typically
provide direct care to patients of all ages in a variety of health care environments. The LPN to
ASN Mobility Option allows the LPN advanced placement into the second year of the 2-year
Associate of Science in Nursing program. A full-time (three semester) and a part-time (five
semester) curriculum is offered. Admission occurs with the application process each December.
Classes begin with a transition course the following summer. Graduates of this program are
eligible to take the National Licensing Exam (NCLEX-RN).
PLEASE NOTE: Effective 2008, IU School of Nursing is suspending admission to the LPN-ASN Mobility Program. The class admitted in February 2008 will be the final cohort of LPN-ASN students at IUPUC. This last cohort will begin the LPN-ASN transition program in May 2008 and will be scheduled to graduate in May 2009.
The RN to BSN Mobility Option provides Registered Nurses with
additional coursework required to complete a Bachelor of Science in Nursing. BSN graduates have
increased opportunity to move into supervisory, managerial and decision-making positions in a
variety of health care environments. Leadership, critical thinking, communication and
collaboration skills are emphasized.
Some courses or portions of courses are taught online via the
Internet for maximum scheduling flexibility. A flexible curriculum is offered. Students may begin in any semester.
The Traditional BSN program is offered only on the IUPUI/IU campus, but
IUPUC can prepare you for application/admission to the BSN program at IU School of Nursing.
Prerequisite general education courses can be taken at IUPUC. During your time at IUPUC, you'll
be classified as a pre-BSN student.
