Public Health *

Students pursuing a Bachelor of Science in Public Health degree may major in either health administration or environmental science and health. Graduates with a major in health administration may work in either the public or private sector in areas such as health facilities, management, epidemiology, or health policy and planning. Graduates with a major in environmental science and health may work in either the public or private sector in areas such as air and water quality, solid and hazardous waste, workplace health and safety, pollution control, environmental planning, food safety or epidemiology.

Special Opportunities

Students have the opportunity to participate in internship programs designed for maximum flexibility so that many valid learning experiences can qualify as internships.

Careers

An environmental science and health major prepares graduates for a variety of occupations within the environmental science and public health industries. Examples of careers pursued by our environmental science and health graduates include: Air and Water Quality Manager, Environmental Lobbyist, Environmental Scientist, Field Scientist Food Safety Inspector, Hazardous Waste Manager, Natural Resource and Park Management, Worker Health and Safety Specialist - Industrial Hygienist and Safety Specialist, Private Consultant, Soil Conservation Technician, Water Resource Planner.

A health administration major prepares graduates for a variety of occupations within the health care industry. Examples of careers pursued by our health administration graduates include: Billing Analyst, Budget and Reimbursement Analyst , Group Practice Manager, Health Care Consultant, Home Health Care/Long-Term Care Administrator, Hospital Administrator, Hospital Marketing, Insurance Sales and Claims, Medical Staffing Coordinator, Pharmaceutical Sales Representative, Physician Recruiter, Provider Relations Representative, Public Health Consultant.
