Enrollment Verification
Lending Agency Requests
Banks, Loan Servicers, and Guarantors require enrollment verification before granting
loan repayment deferrals to students. IUPUC sends enrollment data to a web-based service where financial
agencies can view and print reports directly. The National Student Clearinghouse offers this service at
www.studentclearinghouse.org
Indiana University Purdue University Indianapolis (IUPUI) has partnered with the National Student Clearinghouse
to provide enrollment verification information for loan deferment to our student lenders. Information about what
has been shared with your lender is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year from the National
Student Clearinghouse website.
The National Student Clearinghouse began providing information about loan deferments for the Fall 2007 term and
continues this service through the current term. For information about what details have been provided to your
lenders, check the National Student Clearinghouse website.

Other Agency Requests
Students may submit an IUPUC form to the IUPUC Office of the Registrar requesting enrollment verification for their
automobile or medical insurance company, child care provider, apartment rental agency, or other benefit-granting
organization. This IUPUC Request for Certification of Enrollment may accompany any other form used by one of those
agencies, or the IUPUC form may be submitted alone to request an official IUPUC letter.
Each IUPUC Request for Certification of Enrollment must be presented in person by the student so that we can check
proof of identity, thus preventing Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) violations.
What Is Verified, and When
Academic record information available for verification usually includes prior and/or current enrollment term, enrollment
status (full-time or part-time), expected graduation date, and grade point average (GPA). When applicable, degree status
may also appear.
IUPUC will certify enrollment at the end of the 100% refund period for a particular term, usually after the first week of
classes. IUPUC will not certify enrollment for a future term even if a student has already registered for classes and
paid for that term.
It is important for students to keep their anticipated graduation date current in the Student Information System. Lending
agencies use this information when processing loan deferments. Give graduation date changes to the Office of the Registrar.
Independent Study Considerations
In some cases, for loan deferments only, students may use current enrollment in the IU Independent Study program to count
towards full or part-time enrollment status. It is the student’s responsibility to inform the Office of the Registrar
about enrollment in an IU Independent Study program. It does not automatically appear in our campus-based review.
