Keeping Your College Costs Low

To help traditional and nontraditional students, parents, guidance counselors, and other better understand the costs and benefits of earning a college degree, we are making financial literacy and affordable education a top priority for the 2013–14 academic year.

What can you do to ensure you keep your tuition expenses and student loan debt as low as possible?

• Staying on track to finish your degree in four years or less is one of the best ways to get a head start on your career and increasing your personal earning power.
• IUPUC's Early College Program is a great way to earn college credit while still in high school, which can also help you stay on track to complete your degree quickly.
• IU is also making a world-class college education even more affordable this summer with a 25 percent tuition discount on in-state fees for all undergraduate courses.
• Taking classes as close to home and work as possible, and for as long as possible, will keep your expenses related to commuting or moving to a minimum.
• Talk to the friendly, knowledgeable staff in our Office of Financial Aid and Scholarships about resources like need-based financial aid, scholarships, student loans, grants, and work-study employment.
