Admissions
1. Be admitted to IUPUC
Students who wish to pursue the B.S. in business at IUPUC must first be admitted to the campus. Whether you are brand new to college, transferring from another IU campus, or coming from another school, the campus Admissions office is pleased to assist you in this process.

Ivy Tech Columbus students completing an A.S. in Accounting, Business Administration or Computer Information Systems:
IUPUC and Ivy Tech Columbus have articulation agreements between these A.S. degrees and the B.S. in business at IUPUC. See the Ivy Tech Articulation section for more information.

2. Declare a business major
Students who did not declare a major of business upon admission to IUPUC may change their major by contacting the Office of the Registrar or the Division of Business

3. Apply for Admission to the Division of Business
Students must be admitted to the Division of Business in order to take Upper Division courses (including Integrative Core). There are three points of entry into the Division.
  1. Direct Admission only applies to beginning students; transfer students must apply under Option I or II. No application form is necessary, as the process happens automatically at the time of admission to the University. Beginning students who declare a major in business are directly admitted to the Division if they meet one the following criteria:
    1. Beginning students who have completed an Academic Honors Diploma
    2. Beginning students who have an SAT score of 1000 or higher, have completed Core 40, and graduated in the upper 50% of their high school class
  2. Option I – Pre-Business Admission allows students to submit an Application to the Division once they have completed at least 15 of the following 19 credit hours with a grade of “C” in each course and have a cumulative GPA of 2.5 of higher:
    ENG W131 Elementary Composition I 3 cr.

COMM R110 Fundamentals of Speech Communication 3 cr.
CNIT 107 Computer & Software Packages (or BUS K201) 3 cr.
MATH M118 Finite Mathematics 3 cr.
  3. Option II – I-Core Admission requires students to submit an Application to the Division when they have completed or are in the final semester of pre-requisites for Integrative Core.

Criteria for Admission under Option II are the same as meeting all I-Core pre-requisites.
For current students, how can I tell if I’ve been admitted to the Division?

Students can determine if they have been admitted to the Division of Business by looking in their Student Center in OneStart. In the Student Center, click on “My Academics & Grades.” Look in the blue box to the right of the screen titled “My Program.” Refer to the IUPUC Program if you have more than one school listed.
  1. Does your Program say “Business Undergraduate?”
    1. If no, you have not been admitted to the Division and will need to complete an Application in the semester that you will meet the criteria.
    2. If yes, go to step 2.
  2. Does your Major have the world “prep” or “pre-“ in it anywhere?
    1. If yes, you have not been admitted to the Division and will need to complete an Application when you have met the critiera.
    2. If no, you have already been admitted to the Division
If you have additional questions about your status in the Division of Business, please see a business advisor or contact the Division of Business.

Returning Students

If you attended IUPUC in the past and want to return, contact the Office of the Registrar to be re-activated. If you were admitted in the past but never completed a course, the Admissions office can help you update your original application. Those who have been dismissed from an IU campus, including IUPUC, must go through the Reinstatement process.

Ivy Tech Articulation

Ivy Tech Columbus and IUPUC work together to allow students who attain an Associate of Science at Ivy Tech to come into the Bachelor of Science program at IUPUC with more credit hours than would transfer under the usual course-by-course arrangement. Students with an articulated A.S. are able to begin the corresponding B.S. program at IUPUC with about half of their degree completed.

B.S. in Business articulation

The IUPUC B.S. in Business accepts the articulation of the A.S. degrees from Ivy Tech Columbus in: Accounting, Business Administration, and Computer Information Systems. The specific articulation agreements and how the course transfer works can be found on the Passport to IUPUC page.

Current Ivy Tech students who plan to take advantage of the B.S. in Business articulation should consider taking BUS X220 at IUPUC while finishing their A.S. degree at Ivy Tech if they wish to be ready to take Integrative Core in their first semester at IUPUC. Contact the Division of Business to schedule an appointment with an advisor who can help students through this process.

To view a list of all articulated Ivy Tech A.S. degrees and the B.S. degrees toward which they correspond, visit the Passport to IUPUC page.
