Congratulations . . . Soon to be Graduate!
Graduation is a special accomplishment for every student and the General Studies program joins
our students in celebrating this milestone.
Graduation and the Commencement ceremonies are two different acts. All students who have completed
requirements for the Bachelor of General Studies Degree
must complete an application to graduate.
Students are not required to participate in the Commencement ceremonies. (But we hope you do!)
IUPUC celebrates one university Commencement in May of every year. Graduates from the previous December
and students planning to graduate in May and August of the Commencement year are invited to participate.
Graduation Preparation:
-
All students planning to graduate must submit the graduation application. This application is necessary for
us to check your records and to order your diploma. Please read the application carefully (both pages) and
fully answer the questions. Most important is to PRINT the form legibly, particularly your name as this is
the name that will go on your diploma. NOTE: students planning to graduate in May or August and wish to
attend the university’s commencement ceremony in May, must submit their graduation application prior to
January 15 to insure their name is printed in the Commencement program and to receive information regarding
the ordering of a cap and gown.
-
The General Studies degree program of the School of Continuing Studies graduates students three times a year:
December, May and August. All graduates of that academic year are invited to participate in the Commencement
ceremonies held in May every year. In late February each year, the Office of Gift Development and Alumni
Relations sends Commencement information to students who graduated in December of the previous year and
students who are planning to graduate in May and August of the Commencement year. The mailing includes
cap, gown and invitation order information. Students can also visit the Alumni Relations Office Commencement
website for all Commencement program information.
-
All communication from the General Studies Degree Program will be sent to the student’s university e-mail
address. Students who do not know how to access their IUPUC e-mail account, must contact the university’s
technology helpline (812-314-8600).
Diplomas:
-
Diplomas should be available in the IUPUC Office of the Registrar (CC 156M) approximately four to six
weeks after final certification. Students will be notified by letter when the diploma is in the office.
You must show a picture ID when picking up your diploma.
