Reservation of University Cars

The car is available on a first come first serve basis. Bumping can be done only when twenty-four (24) hour notice is given to the person being bumped and significantly more miles are going to be driven (twenty-five or more miles). If the car is reserved, a second person can sign as an "alternate". The "alternate" has first priority if original reservation is canceled.

Cancellation of Reservation

If the car has been reserved and is not going to be needed the requestor should remove the name from the book and notify backup of availability of the car. If the car is not used within one hour of sign up time, it becomes available to first backup or other users.

Keys to University Car

One set of keys are kept in the Business Office and another set is kept with Facilities. If access to a key is needed outside of normal business hours (8-5) the user can make special arrangements to sign out keys on day early. If the car is returned after business hours, key should be put in the drop box outside of the Business Office.

Fuel and Other Normal Maintenance

If the fuel is at 1/3 or less, a fill up is required before returning the car. Purchases should be made at one of the following stations:

Amoco Ashland BP BP Pro Care
Chevron Citgo Conoco Exxon
Getty Marathon Mobil Phillips 66
Shell Sunoco Super America Texaco

The University Voyager Credit Card should be used. If purchase cannot be made using the credit card, the user may be reimbursed by the motor pool in Bloomington after presenting the ORIGINAL receipts to the Business Office in Columbus. Personal items are to be removed from the car when the car is returned. When using the Voyager Credit Card, the 6 digit number next to the word vehicle is the authorization number. There is also a customer assistance 800 number on the reverse side of the Voyager Card.

Emergencies

A card is kept in the glove compartment telling the driver whom to call in case of an accident or other emergency. Insurance information is also on the card.
