New Employee Information
Getting Started
The first few weeks on a new job can be very stressful as you adjust to your new workplace, new systems, and new ways of doing business. Your office/division and Personnel Administration will be working with you to ensure a great start at IUPUC by helping you complete the necessary paperwork. Your supervisor will assist you in obtaining access to a computer, e-mail, keys, and phone service.
New Employee Fringe Benefit Orientation Sessions
The Human Resources office at IUPUI provides fringe benefit orientation workshops for IUPUC faculty and staff. It is important to attend the orientation session to understand, select and enroll in the benefit programs of your choice. New employee orientation establishes a positive beginning by providing a warm welcome, creating a sense of belonging, and building identification. It also provides an introduction to the IUPUI campus, a review of the various employment, compensation, and time off policies, and an overview of safety at IUPUI. The various benefits offered by Indiana University are reviewed, and employees have an opportunity to ask questions, to make decisions, and to enroll in the benefit plans of their choice. Our goal is for new employees to be fully enrolled in their desired benefits plans by the time they leave orientation.
You will receive at your campus address a packet of customized information from Human Resources Administration at IUPUI. The packet will contain information and enrollment forms for the various fringe benefit programs as well as the date you have been registered to attend an orientation session. You must bring the customized packet to the orientation. The sessions are held from 8:30 a.m. until 4:30 p.m. at the Union Building, Roof Lounge (6th floor, south wing).
Social Security numbers and birth dates are required to designate beneficiaries on enrollment forms. Verification of eligibility is required at the time of enrollment in the medical insurance for dependents. Employees are asked to provide written documentation of the dependent's relationship, for example, a birth certificate, a marriage certificate, documentation of a domestic partner relationship.
