  5. Obtain Any Necessary Course Authorizations/Permissions
  6. Check For Any Holds on Your Record

1. Be Admitted

If you plan to enroll in credit courses at IUPUC, you must be admitted to the University before you may register. Visit Become a Student for further information on the admissions process. If you previously attended IUPUC but are not enrolled in the current term and wish to enroll, contact the Office of the Registrar to confirm your registration eligibility by calling 812-348-7287.

2. Activate Your University Account

Students conduct most of their business with the University through the Web. By activating their University account, students will be able to register, send and receive e-mail through the University, and use Oncourse. If you havent activated your university e-mail account, visit Account Management Service. You can activate your account as soon as you are admitted to the University.

3. See Your Academic School or Division

Meet with your academic advisor and obtain a list of recommended and alternate courses. You may want to review the requirements for your intended degree first by visiting the Degree Progress link from the Self-Service tab of OneStart. Students should review course offerings prior to the start of registration. Each student must assume responsibility for ensuring that he/she knows the academic requirements for the degree being pursued. For more information, other terms and abbreviations used in the IUPUC course offerings, visit How to Read the Schedule of Classes.

4. Check Your Registration Appointment Time

During the priority registration period, students are given specific times to register. You can check your time by visiting My Registration Appointment from the Self-service tab of OneStart. You will need to login first, using your user id and password, the same as used for e-mail or Oncourse. You can register on or after your appointment time.

Students registering after the priority period dont need registration appointments, but must be eligible to register. If you previously attended IUPUC but are not enrolled in the current term and wish to enroll, contact the Office of the Registrar to confirm your registration eligibility. You can also do so through the registration appointment line at 812-348-7287.

Students who are enrolled on another IU campus or who were last enrolled on another IU campus but did not graduate, should complete the intercampus transfer form.

5. Obtain Any Necessary Course Authorizations or Course Permissions

Certain courses, such as those marked PERM or RSTR, must be approved by the division or school offering the course before you register.

You can see if permissions have been granted by visiting My Class Permissions from the Self-service tab of OneStart.

6. Check For Any Holds on Your Record

Be sure there are no academic or financial holds that will prevent you from registering. Some schools or divisions may place a hold on your registration until you have been advised. You can see if there are any holds on your record by visiting Holds on My Record from the Self-service tab of OneStart.

7. Register or Waitlist Your Courses

You will register according to an assigned appointment during Priority Registration or during the Open Registration period. Be sure to have your user id and password available for registration. These are the same as you use to access University e-mail and Oncourse.

Detailed registration instructions are available.

If you havent activated your university e-mail account, visit Account Management Service. You can activate your account as soon as you are admitted to the University.

8. Pay For Your Classes

You will receive a bill through the mail based on when you enroll and you can pay through the mail, or in person at the Office of the Bursar. You can also access and pay your bill from the Bursar section of the self-service tab of OneStart. You can pay with credit card, debit card, or by e-check.

9. Attend Classes

If for some reason you need to drop a class or withdraw from the term, be aware of deadlines and proper procedures.
Academic Calendar

Priority Registration: By Appointment

All students enrolled during one academic term are automatically given a registration appointment for the following term(s). For example, a student enrolled in the Spring term will be given appointments for the Summer and Fall. You will be notified by letter of your exact registration appointment day and time. If you have not received your appointment in the mail, visit OneStart. If you previously attended IUPUC but are not enrolled in the current term and wish to enroll, contact the Office of the Registrar to confirm your registration eligibility. You can do so through the registration appointment line at 812-348-7287 on or after the date specified on the Academic Calendar.

Students who are enrolled on another IU campus or who were last enrolled on another IU campus but did not graduate, should complete the intercampus transfer form.

Following their registration, all students will receive a bill in the mail. Be sure to keep your address current.

Undergraduate students who are newly admitted to the University will receive information regarding placement tests, orientation, and special registration dates. These students should not call the number above for a registration appointment.

Students may enroll by computer, whether from campus, home, or office. For information on how to register by computer via the world-wide-web visit the Self-service tab of OneStart. Help text also is available within OneStart.

Registration System: Operating Hours

The registration system is available Monday through Saturday, all times except 5 a.m. to 6 a.m.; and Sunday, midnight to 8 a.m.

Open Registration: No Appointment Required

While students are encouraged to register as close to their original appointment time as possible, students may register any time after their appointment until registration ends. Students may register during the first week of the term, but will be assessed a late registration fee.

Registration Helpline

If you have problems registering, call the helpline at 812-348-7287 Monday - Friday 8:00 am to 5:00 pm.

Waiting Lists for Closed Courses

Most IUPUC courses provide a waiting list option should they be closed (all seats taken) when a student attempts to register. Visit the Automated Course Exchange/Waitlist link for information on this process. In recent semesters IUPUC has placed approximately 75% of all waitlist requests.

Note - Students who alter their original schedules, whether by personal incentive or by University directive, must do so officially by the procedures outlined above. Failure to assume this responsibility may jeopardize a student's academic record by incurring an "F" in a course improperly dropped and/or by not receiving credit for a course improperly added.

Students who accumulate an excessive number of Ws on their records may be deemed to not be making satisfactory academic progress on their degree. If such a determination is made they may be blocked from registering by their school and may risk restrictions or loss of financial aid.
