- Students must complete the online Summer Aid Application in order to be considered for summer financial assistance.
- For 2007 Summer financial aid, students must have a valid Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) for the 2006-2007 academic year on file prior to June 30, 2007. The FAFSA may be completed online at www.fafsa.ed.gov.
- Undergraduates must be enrolled in a total of at least six credit hours during the summer to receive summer aid.
- Graduate students must be enrolled in a total of at least four credit hours during the summer to receive summer aid.
- Students must be making satisfactory academic progress in order to be considered for summer aid. Students should review the satisfactory academic progress requirements at Undergrad Form.
- Students who are attending classes at another IU campus must have an approved consortium in addition to meeting the other eligibility requirements. Also, some overseas study courses may require a consortium. Consortium information may be found at Consortium.pdf.
Availability of Summer Aid
- Students who received Federal Stafford Loans up to their full annual eligibility during the previous academic year semesters are not eligible for Federal Stafford Loans in the summer. Borrower eligibility for Federal Stafford loans will begin again the following academic year.
- For most students, summer aid consists of private student loans and/or Federal Parent PLUS Loans. To apply for these loans you will need to complete the loan application(s) along with the Summer Aid Application.
- If a student received Federal Work-Study (FWS) during the previous academic year, and is interested in FWS during the summer, the student should complete the Summer Aid Application and then contact their employer about potential employment opportunities. The employer will then work with our office to determine their eligibility.
