Types of Aid
Many IUPUC undergraduates receive one or more types of financial aid.
There are two primary ways that students can receive financial assistance at IU:
merit scholarships and need-based financial aid. Incoming freshmen will be considered
for the vast number of merit scholarships based on their application for admission.
Financial aid refers to the wide variety of programs that help students and their families
pay for college. It's available in three forms:
- Grants and scholarships, which do not have to be repaid
- Loans, which have to be repaid
- Work-study, which provides aid in exchange for work, usually in the form of campus-based employment
Almost all aid provided by the federal government is awarded based on your ability to pay for college. This is not to say, however, that all aid is need-based. IUPUC awards scholarships to students who demonstrate exceptional academic potential.
In short, don't count yourself out on financial aid. IUPUC participates in every federal grant, loan, and employment program, in addition to our own programs.

Student Loans
All students requesting summer aid will be evaluated for summer federal Stafford loan eligibility.
If you received your full annual eligibility in federal Stafford loans during the academic year, you
will not be eligible for federal Stafford loans in the summer.
New Borrowers:
After accepting and selecting your lender, you will receive an e-mail at your university email account
instructing you how to complete the Master Promissory Note (MPN) for your loan. Your MPN must be completed
and you must meet the eligibility requirements at the top of the page before your loans will be sent to the school.
Prior Borrowers:
If you borrowed a loan during the 2007/08 academic year, your loan will automatically be sent to the school if
you meet the eligibility requirements at the top of the page. If you did not borrow during the 2007/08 academic year,
please read the “New Borrowers” information above.
For most students, summer aid consists of private student loans and/or federal PLUS loans. Visit the links below for
information and to apply:
The process of certifying Private Loan and Federal PLUS Loans will begin after March 18, 2008, and requires verification
of Summer 2008 enrollment and meeting the previously listed eligibility standards.
Federal Pell Grants
Students who have additional federal Pell Grant eligibility for 2007/08 aid year are identified and awarded during the
summer packaging process. Typically, full-time students that received federal Pell Grants for the Fall 2007 and Spring
