IUPUC ANNOUNCES BOLD ASPIRATIONS TO COMMUNITY

Over 200 community members joined Indiana University-Purdue University Columbus faculty, staff, and students on June 14th for the announcement of Bold Aspirations: The Campaign for IUPUC. The event was marked by a visit from Indiana University President Adam W. Herbert and Indiana University-Purdue University Indianapolis Chancellor Charles A. Bantz.
Commenting on the importance of the campaign, President Herbert stated, We are very honored to be a part of this venture.
Herbert went on to commend IUPUC and the people of Columbus for their, strong history of coming together to maintain the vitality of the city, in this case, by expanding access to higher education for your citizens.
The $4 million campaign is IUPUCs first comprehensive campaign and the largest fundraising effort in the campus 35-year history. Funds raised from the campaign will provide scholarships for students with financial need; equipment and technology for new IU and Purdue bachelors degree programs at IUPUC; and enhanced campus life for students through the creation of a University Park. IUPUC has already raised $2,339,879.54 towards these campaign goals since September 2003. The campaign will continue through February of 2006.
At the close of the event, IUPUC Vice Chancellor and Dean, Dr. Nasser Paydar, shared why the success of Bold Aspirations: The Campaign for IUPUC is important to the future of the entire region.
An investment in IUPUC is an investment in the future; an investment in the future of individual studentsin the future of our communitiesand in the economic development future of south central Indiana, stated Paydar.
