University Policies Apply to Everyone

IUPUC students, staff, and faculty are all affected by the policies described here. Most of these subjects and others can also be found printed in the: Privacy of Education Records

A federal law protects the privacy of student education records. The law applies to all schools that receive funds under a program of the U.S. Department of Education. The law is called the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA).

Adverse Weather Policy

All students, faculty, and staff are asked to check www.iupuc.edu and/or area media to learn if classes have been cancelled due to inclement weather. The Adverse Weather Policy explains all aspects of this subject.

Smoking Policy

Effective January 1, 2008, the IUPUC campus became a smoke- and tobacco-free campus. The campus has adopted this policy in order to promote a healthier and more welcoming environment for employees, students, and guests. Smoking and other tobacco use has been prohibited both indoors and outdoors on all IUPUC properties and in university-owned, operated, or leased vehicles both on and off campus.

E-mail as Official IU Communication

The university reserves the right to send all official communications to students by e-mail. Students are expected to check their University e-mail accounts (ending in “.edu”) on a frequent and consistent basis in order to stay current with university matters such as schedule changes, class cancellations, security or health issues, advisement appointments, and intercampus transfer acknowledgements – to name a few.

To create your first University e-mail account, or to make changes to the current one, go to the IU Account Management Service site. Religious Holidays
