Writing Center Mission Statement

The Columbus Writing Center is dedicated to assisting experienced and inexperienced writers with all types of composition, fostering productive discourse between students and their classroom instructors, and maintaining the IUPU-C tradition of serious academic instruction in a positive, open, and intellectually-stimulating environment.

What We Do

If you are a student, staff, or faculty member, the Writing Center is a place where you can sit down with an experienced reader who will provide assistance with your writing. WC tutors aid in all stages of the writing process, and in any discipline. We believe that all writers, regardless of their experience level or academic discipline, can benefit from the assistance of an interested "outside" reader. Tutors work one-on-one with writers, helping them to learn skills, strategies, techniques, and conventions that can be applied to both the work at hand and writing at large. We encourage instructors to invite Writing Center tutors to assist their students in the writing process. Instructors may also invite tutors to attend classes,
give shortpresentations, or assist with particular assignments.
