Marketing includes all activities related to the sales and distribution of goods and services from producers to consumers. It strives to understand why and how consumers decide what products and services to purchase. It also involves maximizing product offerings to fill needs and effectively, efficiently communicating the competitive advantages of products to prospective customers.
By integrating the traditional principles and concepts of supply and demand, it raises the bar for reaching defined target audiences with messages that will resonate and motivate them to take action. Marketing also creates structures and processes that will deliver value to consumers and profitability to the business organization.
Marketing professionals also monitor changing trends in customer behavior, scan local, regional, and global business environments to collect and analyze valuable research data and statistics, establish pricing policies, help manage logistics and channels of distribution, and oversee advertising, sales, and strategic planning initiatives.
