Accreditation and Effectiveness

IUPUC Division of Education Completers' Impact on Student Learning

The IUPUC Division of Education is currently piloting an approach to collecting data that will allow us to gain insight on the impact of our graduates on student learning.

Overview

The pilot is based on feedback received from both the IUPUC Division of Education Teacher and Principal advisory boards. As the majority of our graduates are employed in Bartholomew Consolodated School District (BCSC), the school district in which our campus is located, principals and teachers encouraged the division to turn to NWEA data to provide evidence of our completers' impact on student learning.

Previously, the division used data collected from the growth-model report card adopted by the school district. The teachers and principals cautioned the division regarding the reliability and validity of the growth-model report card data. Since NWEA is administered disctrict wide, the advisory boards recommended a shift to the summary data from NWEA assessment, which is proven to be valid and reliable, in classrooms led by our completers.

Based on this recommendation, we will begin collecting NWEA summary data directly from BCSC principals.
