Nicole Pence Becker, MPA – Owner, Pence Media Group, LLC

Nicole Pence Becker owns and operates Pence Media Group. Pence Media Group is a digital and media consultancy focused on helping organizations, companies, and people connect with their audiences.

Nicole is a 4-time Emmy Award winner with more than a decade of experience as a journalist, communications, and social media expert. Most recently, Nicole was the anchor for CBS4 This Morning (WTTV) in Indianapolis owned by Tribune. Nicole first joined Tribune (FOX59/CBS4) in June 2014 to launch & anchor a brand new newscast, FOX59 NewsPoint at 11PM. Before working at CBS4/FOX59, Nicole worked at WTHR, WLEX & Indiana's NewsCenter.

Nicole hit pause on her journalism career in March 2017 after she and her husband Jason welcomed home their third son in 13 months after having twin boys the year before. As a proud Hoosier, Nicole grew up in Columbus, Indiana. She graduated Cum Laude from DePauw University and also earned a Master’s of Public Affairs from SPEA at IUPUI.  Nicole lives in Carmel with her husband Jason and sons Andrew, Colin, and Matthew.

Whitney Amuchastegui – Executive Director, Su Casa Columbus


Whitney Amuchastegui joined Su Casa Columbus last November as Executive Director having spent the last three years working at BCSC in the English Learning Department. There, she participated in the establishment of the Cultural Learning Center, promoting the integration of international families into the community, supporting Latino young talent, and encouraging multi-cultural expression in the schools. She is a strong proponent of human rights and positive youth development in our community.  Whitney comes from Canada by way of Chile, Uruguay, and Argentina where she spent eight years. It is also where she met her husband and began her family. Her previous roles have been in the graphic design field, working for Mayor Michael Bloomberg and the Economic Development Corporation in New York City and the Turismo Sustentable arm of the Tourism Secretary in Chile. She holds a BFA in Communication Design from Parsons School of Design.
Kevin Jones, Ed.D.  Associate Professor of Management, IUPUC


Dr. Kevin Jones is an Associate Professor of Management at IUPUC and a human resource development leader who applies organizational development practice and organizational communication theory to deliver results for organizations. He has worked for many years to transform organizations to improve performance and productivity. Dr. Jones has over 25 years of experience in leadership, management, and human resource development roles and seeks to inspire and challenge students to apply the concepts covered in his courses, with a goal of bringing to students “real world” practitioner’sperspective supported by leading-edge research.Dr. Jones holds a Bachelor of Arts from Western Michigan University, a Master of Arts from the University of Kansas, and a Doctor of Education from Northern Illinois University. He researches in the fields of Organizational Ethical Cultures and Practices, Romantic Relationships in the Workplace, Teaching and Learning Strategies in Higher Education, Organizational Change Process Enablers and Dysfunctions, and Leadership and Management Competencies Models, Application and Development and has published multiple articles.Dr. Jones was a Mosaic Faculty Fellow and is the recipient of multiple awards.
Ian Kohen – Director Corporate Responsibility, Cummins Engine and Component Businesses


Ian Kohen currently serves as the Director of Corporate Responsibility for Cummins Engine and Component Businesses. In his role, Ian works with key community partners including United Way, BCSC, Sans Souci, Love Chapel, ensures that the business meets the goals of participation and impact in their communities, and increases the use of Foundation Grants to Cummins’ community partners. In his previous role, he led the Corporate Responsibility and Corporate Diversity & Inclusion functions worldwide for Cummins Engine Business. Prior to his roles in Corporate Responsibility, Ian worked in Engineering for Cummins at multiple sites both here and abroad. He received his Bachelor’s Degree in Aerospace/Mechanical Engineering from Arizona State University. Ian has a passion for community and has served as a Commissioner for the Columbus Human Rights Commission where he led a highly contested change to the city Ordinance to include LGBTQ. He is also active in Rotary International, helps to lead the South Asian Affinity Group at Cummins, and enjoys mentoring younger Cummins employees and Columbus citizens. He currently works with over 50 mentees.

Kathy Oren – Executive Director, Community Education Coalition


Kathy Oren currently serves as Executive Director of the Community Education Coalition, a not-for-profit organization committed to the development of an aligned, high quality community and regional learning system supporting learners of all ages. Her work involves education, economic growth, workforce development, and quality of life initiatives. The Community Education Coalition’s EcO Network regional initiative acts as a neutral backbone organization to facilitate collaborative strategies among employers, K12, postsecondary, adult education, workforce organizations, and communities across Southeast Indiana to increase educational attainment aligned with workforce demand.  Kathy currently serves on several boards and councils including: Ivy Tech Board of Trustees, United Way of Bartholomew County Board of Directors, Columbus Area Chamber of Commerce, Greater Columbus Indiana Economic Development Board, Council for Youth Development, BCSC Business Advisory Council, IUPUC Division of Nursing Advisory Council, and East Indiana Area Health Education Center Board. Kathy received her BS degree from Purdue University in Industrial Engineering and an MBA from Indiana University at IUPUI.

Business Spotlights


Viewpoint Books is Indiana’s second-oldest independent bookstore. Beth Stroh uses her experience as an elementary teacher, middle school language arts educator and university lecturer in Literature and Composition to select books from all genres that will appeal to Viewpoint’s vast range of customers. Beth also offers The Book Cellar as a venue for arts performances, meetings, fundraisers and private events.


Special Dogs & More is a restaurant that employees those in the special needs community locally. We train them in all aspects of the restaurant and help build their self-confidence, and independence to be gainfully employed. They learn social skills, customer service, as well as life skills that they can use outside of work to become more independent, all while preparing and serving hotdogs, hamburgers, ribbon fries, salads, etc.
