The Big Event actively promotes campus and community unity as students and others come together for a day to express their gratitude for community support. The volunteers will focus on yard clean-up, such as raking and mulching and indoor chores, such as window washing and cleaning.
History of the Big Event
In 1982 Joe Nussbaum, then Vice President of the Student Government Association at Texas A&M University, started The Big Event as a way for students to say “Thank You” to the surrounding community. Since then, colleges and universities across the country have begun participating in this day of service.
IUPUC first participated in the Big Event in 2015, and hopes to continue the momentum and growth with this year’s event on April 13, 2019.
