Timely Topics is a series of online conversations on topics related to the challenges facing Columbus and surrounding communities and new ideas for overcoming those challenges. These events are free of charge, but registration is required in order to attend.
This program features presentations by IUPUC professors Dr. Kevin Jones and Dr. Jon Padfield. The forum addresses challenges, issues, and concerns regarding data privacy, including the implications of sacrificing data privacy, and discuss actions people can take toward regaining personal data privacy.
Dr. Jon Padfield is an Assistant Professor of Management at IUPUC, and a Lean Six Sigma Master Black Belt with 24 years of experience in industry leading medical device, automotive, and security products companies. Additionally, Padfield has 7 years of experience running his own Analytics & Innovation training and consulting business and 4 years full-time University teaching experience (Organizational Leadership, Supply Chain Management, and Industrial Engineering Technology).
Dr. Kevin Jones is an Associate Professor of Management at IUPUC and a human resource development leader who applies organizational development practice and organizational communication theory to deliver results for organizations. Dr. Jones has over 25 years of experience in leadership, management, and human resource development roles and seeks to inspire and challenge students through a “real world” practitioner’s perspective supported by leading-edge research.
Dr. Ryan Brewer and Dr. Steven Mohler provide updated information from the Business Outlook Panel discussion held in November, 2019, and explore economic factors impacting our state and local communities as well as national and international markets.
Dr. Ryan M. Brewer is an Associate Professor of Finance at IUPUC, where he has worked since 2009, and currently serves as Director of the IU MBA Columbus program. Brewer earned his Ph.D. from Indiana University Bloomington in 2011 on the topic of financial economics: intrinsic valuation. Brewer also holds an M.B.A. from the Kelley School of Business where he focused in economics and statistics.
Dr. Steve Mohler is a Visiting Assistant Professor of Management in the Division of Business at IUPUC. In addition to leadership roles in industry, Dr. Mohler also fulfilled leadership, faculty, and administration roles for Ivy Tech Community College in Indianapolis for a number of years. As a life-long learner, Mohler seeks to communicate excitement for learning and the course topics in an interactive course environment.
