Dr. Kathy Auberry is a registered nurse practicing in the field of intellectual and developmental disability for the past twenty-five years. She is an Assistant Professor of Nursing at Indiana University School of Nursing, Division of Health Sciences since 2012. She previously served as the Director of Health Sciences and the Director of Operations for an organization supporting individuals with the intellectual and developmental disabilities experiencing complex health needs. Dr. Auberry possesses a Doctorof Nursing Practice Degree, and a Master’s degree in Nursing-‘Healthcare Leadership with a Focus in Education’, as well as certification in developmental disabilities nursing.
Dr. Auberry’s research interest is improving healthcare services for individuals with disability and complex healthcare needs residing within community settings. She is the author of several publications focused on improving healthcare for this population. She is also interested in leadership theory, the ethical practice of nursing, and the development of nurse leaders, who will provide innovative and inter-professional approaches to the challenges that exist within the healthcare system.
