Dr. Paige McDaniel entered nursing as a second-degree graduate in 2004, and subsequently completed her Master’s program in late-2007. As a Certified Nurse-Midwife and Women’s Health Care Nurse Practitioner, she began her midwifery career on Saipan, the principal island of the Northern Marianas (a small island chain and US Territory in the Western Pacific near Guam), where she lived and worked for almost two and a half years. She relocated to Indiana in 2011 for a full-scope Nurse-Midwife position with a Federally Qualified Health Center in Indianapolis, where she worked for the next seven years. In 2017, Dr. McDaniel completed her DNP degree and post-Master’s Certificate in Teaching in Nursing. Her doctoral project involved implementing a postpartum hemorrhage prevention program with midwives and nurses in Liberia, West Africa. In 2018, Dr. McDaniel left full-scope practice for an APRN clinic position where she is a women’s health and sexual health care provider. She maintains her Advanced Practice here, working one day a week in addition to her IUPUC nursing faculty duties.
Dr. McDaniel’s professional interests include health disparities, social determinants of health, global health (especially global health education and workforce development), health policy, APRN education, and complementary and alternative medicine.
