Professor Karen Werskey is a clinical assistant professor and serves as the director of the simulation center and faculty education for the IU School of Nursing at IUPUC. She has over 30 years of nursing experience. Professor Werskey holds a Master of Science in Nursing from the University of Southern Indiana where she graduated with distinction. Her graduate degrees are a Bachelor of Science in Nursing and an Associates of Science in Nursing, both from Indiana State University. Professor Werskey has experience in teachingnursing in BSN programs and with experienced staff in a hospital setting. Prior to academia, she worked in the emergency department, the perioperative units, and in nursing education including simulation.
She was born and raised in Seymore, Indiana and worked in a hospital setting for over 30 years. She began work at IUPUC in 2014 as an adjunct professor and became full-time faculty in 2018.
