MODIFIED LIBRARY SERVICES FOR FALL SEMESTER 2020
In order to operate as safely as possible the University Library of Columbus has made some adjustments to our normal operations for the Fall 2020 semester. The preferred method for accessing library services will be online, but the library will be open for limited in person services until further notice.
Hours
Monday-Thursday: 10:00 a.m. - 7:00 p.m.
Friday-Sunday: Closed
Research help
The best way to contact the library for research assistance is to use our library chat service or fill out a form, both of which are available on our Ask A Librarian page. You may also contact us via phone at 812-375-7570. Additionally, we are able to meet with you for in depth research help via Zoom. Please contact us through the Ask A Librarian form to schedule a Zoom research consultation.
Access to electronic books, journals, and database subscriptions
The databases, journals, and e-books to which the library subscribes will remain accessible to you. If you are not accustomed to accessing these resources from off campus, you may want to refer to this IU Knowledge Base article, About the IU VPN. IU has recently changed its VPN configuration, so it is important you start your research at the library's homepage when you want to find full text articles and other online materials. Resources like Google Scholar may not work as well from off campus. If you have issues connecting to library resources remotely, please send an Ask A Librarian request with details about your access issue and we will help you troubleshoot the problem.
Borrowing materials
Our physical collections, searchable through IUCAT, are available for Request Delivery now and for pick up at the University Library of Columbus. The book stacks are CLOSED for browsing at the moment to help keep our materials sanitized. If you would like to check out a book that is owned by the University Library of Columbus, you may request them via the Ask a Librarian form or by visiting or calling the library.
Materials may be returned to the drive-up Book Drop box located on the sidewalk between the Learning Center and IUPUC buildings or at the library front desk.
Interlibrary loan
Interlibrary loan of all library materials has resumed. The turnaround time for interlibrary loan will be longer than is typical because of quarantine of materials.
Library Instruction
Librarians are available for Zoom and asynchronous instruction. Please reach out to Jeff Wimble (jwimble@iupuc.edu) or Emily Dill (eadill@iupuc.edu) to schedule a session or arrange for asynchronous materials, such as tutorials, to be added to your Canvas course site.
