Biographical Statement

As dedicated registered nurse with 13 years’ experience in the public and private sectors of the medical field, my experience is diverse.  My nursing experience involves critical care with a focus on patients with cardiothoracic issues, patients with the left ventricular assistive devices (LVAD), and children who are medically fragile in the school setting.  I recently graduated from Indiana Wesleyan University with a Masters in Nursing Education.  I will soon start the PhD in nursing science program at Indiana University, Indianapolis with an estimated graduation date of 2018.

Prior to moving to Columbus, Indiana, I served as full-time practical nursing faculty for Brown Mackie College in Louisville, Kentucky for three years.  Most recently, I served as a case manager for a pediatric day treatment facility and adjunct nursing faculty at ATA College in Louisville.

My doctoral research focus is on nursing education, specifically investigating how White faculty understand cultural competence and teach in culturally sensitive ways.  Additionally, I would like to explore the impact changes to pedagogical practices and inclusion of narrative pedagogy may have on nursing practice.
