Who Staffs the Schoellkopf Center?
Three kinds of staff work at the Schoellkopf Center.
- Graduate students earning their MA in Mental Health Counseling from IUPUC are the primary providers of individual and group counseling services. These students are in their second year of a two year training program and are enrolled in one of three practicum / internship classes. Students are closely supervised, often during sessions, by licensed clinical faculty members teaching these classes.
- Undergraduate students from IUPUC Bachelors in Psychology and IvyTech Community College Associate in Human Services Program can serve in support roles within the center as part of their field experience requirements.
- Faculty supervisors hold doctoral degrees in Counselor Education & Supervision, Counseling Psychology, or Clinical Psychology. On occasion individuals holding masters degrees in Mental Health Counseling, Clinical Social Work, or Marriage and Family Therapy may also participate in the training of graduate students. All supervisors are fully licensed in the state of Indiana in their respective professions. Combined, these faculty have decades of experience providing high quality mental health services to children, adolescents, and adults. Professional licenses of faculty supervisors are posted for inspection at the Schoellkopf Center reception desk.
All staff are trained to provide HIPAA compliant services and protect the privacy of clients at the Schoellkopf Center.
Individuals willing to participate in counseling provided by supervised graduate students in a training environment are welcome to request services.
