Public Meeting for Multi-Hazard Mitigation Plan to be held October 23

October 22, 2013

Indiana University Emergency Management and Continuity (IUEMC) and The Polis Center will host a public information session regarding a multi-hazard mitigation plan for Indiana University-Purdue University Columbus (IUPUC) on Wednesday, October 23 from 2 to 3 p.m. in CC Room 176.

IUEMC staff teamed with The Polis Center, located on the Indiana University-Purdue University Indianapolis (IUPUI) campus, to develop a multi-hazard mitigation plan for all IU campuses, including IUPUC, as part of the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) Disaster-Resistant University (DRU) Initiative.

More information about the DRU initiative can be found on The Polis Center Web site at: http://thepoliscenter.iupui.edu/index.php/creating-a-disaster-resistant-university/

Once the plan is completed, it will be submitted to FEMA for approval. The approved plan will qualify Indiana University to receive federal mitigation funding.

IUEMC and The Polis Center are interested in receiving public input on the plan. Anyone who has questions or would like to provide input should contact Carlos Garcia, director of emergency management and continuity at IUPUI and IUPUC, at 317.274.1802 or garciaca@iu.edu.
