The Division of Liberal Arts Indiana University-Purdue University Columbus (IUPUC) is pleased to announce Jessica Livon as the new Academic Advisor to the Division of Liberal Arts.

Livon joins IUPUC with a Master's Degree in Higher Education and Student Affairs Administration from the University of South Carolina. Originally from Dallas-Fort Worth, Texas she received an undergraduate degree from Baylor University in Recreation and Leisure Services. New to Indiana, Livon recognizes Columbus as a unique community. Furthermore, she eagerly anticipates fulfilling her new role as academic advisor at IUPUC.

Livon shares, “I spend the majority of my time meeting with students to assist them in achieving their academic success from orientation to graduation. I advise students majoring in communication studies, English, history, sociology and many other areas of study. When students meet with me, I hope it is an opportunity for them to not only plan for which classes they are going to take each semester, but that it provides a space for them to be seen, known, and understood.”

Furthermore, in her role she sees a lot of factors come into play when pursuing higher education and she believes that it is part of her job to assist students to navigate campus life while providing assistance when possible. Livon states her career objective as “ensuring students feel they can come to me on campus and leave my office feeling confident in their ability to achieve the academic goals they desire.”

Additionally, in her work to support students she aspires to have an active role in campus life while working in partnership with other academic advisors, as well as offices across campus.
