Cerrie Butler, an administrative payroll clerk, was named Employee of the Quarter by Dr. Reinhold Hill for the second quarter. Hill shared that from the many highly deserving nominees received this quarter Cerrie’s nomination stood out. Her nominators wrote that she maintains a “Happy” attitude even when working outside of her own responsibilities while a co-worker was out on FMLA leave.

Cerrie is a life-long resident of Columbus and graduated from Columbus North High School in 1989. She attended classes at IUPUC from 1989-1991 and was a work-study student for the Office of the Bursar and the Office of Continuing Education before transferring to IU Bloomington.

She began working full-time at IUPUC in June 2005 as an administrative assistant for Dr. Nasser Paydar, who was at that time the vice chancellor and dean. After approximately two years, she moved to the administration and finance office, where she currently works as an administrative payroll clerk and assists faculty and staff with travel processes and procedures.

She is a self-proclaimed ‘foodie’ and enjoys cooking, eating, watching the Food Network and Cooking Channel, and trying new foods and restaurants.

Cerrie and her husband, Brian, first met as students at IUPUC in 1989. They have been married for 23 years and have a 16-year old son, Zach, who is a sophomore at Columbus East High School.

“The award reflects the strength that Cerrie brings to the Division of Finance in her ability to fill-in while her co-worker was on leave. Cerrie pitched in with a friendly, supportive, and ‘can-do’ attitude - which is very much appreciated,” shares Naomi Cohenour, executive director of the office of finance administration.

“This award is not only reflective of her positive attitude during that particular time period, yet also for continuing to be helpful on a daily basis with instruction on the use of the new Travel system, for which she goes above and beyond. On behalf of our team, we thank Cerrie for her willingness to help and her efforts to keep the operations of the campus running smoothly.”
