IUPUC is pleased to announce Vipul Srivastava, adjunct business professor, has been awarded a 2023 Faculty Academy on Excellence in Teaching (FACET) Innovate award. These awards recognize faculty who bring passion, innovation, and creativity to the classroom to promote student success. They also help share and disseminate best practices in teaching for the benefit of the entire IU community.

Srivastava, the first FACET award winner from IUPUC, won in the category of Skills Across the Curriculum for the classroom activity, “Industry Ready: Learn Future Challenges Today with Industry Linked Project.” In this activity, teams of students supplement classroom learning by working with local businesses to gain insights on industry practices and challenges, present their findings and proposed improvements to the business and the class, and receive feedback from various stakeholders.

“This exposure to real-world business scenarios and challenges helps our students to be more effective in the industry with a much shorter learning curve,” Srivastava said. Regarding the FACET award, he added, “I am feeling delighted, honored and having a sense of satisfaction that I am able to support our community by helping our students learn contemporary business practices and by developing future leaders through my role at IUPUC.”

Srivastava joined IUPUC in 2019. He teaches highly reviewed online and hybrid courses in personnel management, managing behavior in organizations, and human resource management. He has done this while maintaining full-time positions first as Talent Management and Operational Excellence Manager, and now as Learning and Leadership Development Manager, at Cummins Inc.

“Vipul is a tremendous asset to both our undergraduate and MBA business programs, and we value his global experience and leadership in the classroom,” said Ryan Brewer, Ph.D., Head of the IU Division of Business - Columbus.
