Our mission

We strive to improve teaching, learning, and human development in a diverse, rapidly changing, and increasingly multicultural and technological society. We prepare reflective, caring, and highly skilled educators and scholars who are committed to social justice and equity, participate in dialogue and inquiry into school change, and partner with key stakeholders to improve teaching and learning at the local, national, and international levels.

Partnerships in education

As an education student, you will tutor, teach, and learn through collaborations with a number of local and national partners. Learn more about some of our partnerships below.

  • Center for Teaching and Learning

The Center for Teaching and Learning (CTL) at IUPUC supports elementary, secondary, and post-secondary faculty, staff, and educators throughout the region on a variety of projects related to education, teaching, and learning.

  • Community Education Coalition

The Community Education Coalition, a community-led initiative of education, business, and community leaders committed to development, implementation, and support of a seamless learning system that provides quality education for learners of all ages and those who teach them.

  • Foundation for Youth

The Foundation for Youth (FFY) serves local youth and the community through children's programs and services. The Division of Education at IUPUC partners with FFY to provide science-related educational activities. Students in the EDUC Q200 Introduction to Scientific Inquiry class visit FFY and work with elementary school-aged children.

  • Partner Schools

The Division of Education at IUPUC works with local school districts to provide education majors with opportunities to work with students, learn from professionals in the field, and gain the critical knowledge they need to become leaders in education. We also support current classroom teachers in partner schools with professional development.

Education advisory council

The Advisory Council for the Division of Education at IUPUC comprises local and regional educators and community officials.

Council meetings are typically held once each semester to discuss current issues and future planning for the division.
